Camera Tests (Blog Post 9)

A blog post by: Darleen Klug

Last Friday, on the 15th of March, we did some camera tests using different equipment to see what worked best.

Initially I tried to use a spotlight, which was quite harsh, but then I decided to simply use a dedo. Placing it overhead was not exactly what I was looking for so eventually I just dimmed it as used it as a soft direct light.

I used a Canon 700D and then a 600D on a a2000 Feiyutech Gimbal. We were quite happy with how it turned out for some of the scenes taking place in the studio, before the dance sequence. I am going to be using a tilt shift 40mm lens from LensBaby to create a dreamy effect.

For a rather more "hands-on" scene we are going to be playing with water and colour. We are going to be using a macro lens for some of these shots to get in close on the water, whilst lighting it with a small soft Divalite.

For the reality scene, we are potentially using a 50 mm and the kit lens. This will be decided more firmly during reccee and shooting days.
